LOUNY 12. 1. 2010: The Czech manufacturer of wagons and locomotives, LOSTR a.s., has achieved a significant business success. After a long-term negotiations, the representatives of the German company Voith Turbo GmbH & Co, Peter Jöns and Hinrich Krey, arrived to Louny at noon today to sign a License Agreement for locomotives manufacturing. It is an exclusive Agreement for indefinite time period and it will be valid for manufacturing of locomotives for the Central and East European countries, with the exception of the former Soviet Union countries.
Based on the Agreement signed, LOSTR a.s. will produce the state-of-the-art, and, simultaneously, the most demanded Diesel - hydraulic locomotives of the Maxima type. The machines are very efficient, safe, with simple control. They have a comfortable tank volume of 9 000 liters. The German manufactures will supply three components for the locomotives – motors, gear boxes and switch cupboards; the other parts, including final assembly and commissioning, will be realized by LOSTR a.s. „Within the next days, a group of our engineers will leave for the German Kiel for their first short-term attachment. We will manufacture the first type of the locomotive in cooperation with the Voith Turbo Company by the end of this year and we will start commercial production of the locomotives in the amount of several tens of these machines already in the year 2011“, informed the LOSTR, a.s. general director, Mr. Radek Rybáček, what are the details of the successfully launched cooperation. He has also disclosed that the first parties interested in the efficient and modern locomotives are already on the waiting list. “Production of other types of locomotives is being negotiated for the future”, stated the director and he has communicated his contentment that the Louny Plant is more successful and keeps its pace with the foreign competitors.
A new production hall for locomotives production will be constructed in the LOSTR a.s. Louny area and new staff will be employed according to the requirements. Of course, many educational programs have been prepared for them, as well as for the existing employees, so that the Plant would be able to keep pace with modern methods and technologies; that means the whole Louny Plant would again be able to compete after several years of slump. The Company has confidence in itself and, in particular, it has confidence in its employees. It was able to react flexibly to the changing market demands and it has extended its portfolio by cistern and discharging wagons. “We have produced 1000 of new wagons last year and we expect to produce the same number this year. Since it concerns more complicated manufacturing processes, it will mean a higher number of standard hours“, said Mr. Rybáček, director, in conclusion.
